Can't install tools because I can't log in. I checked in Device Manager, It's 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard'. Ok so I then installed VMware Workstation 9.0 (since updated to 9.0.2). Work fine in OS, I click in guest, and nothing, stuck at XP login screen. Keyboard AND mouse (trackpad) don't work in guest. When given the choice of export formats I chose VMware player 5.0. Used standalone converter to convert to VM and also resized it down onto a USB hard drive. Now the keyboard and mouse work most of the time. There were multiple reboots and I think a 'Dock Flash?, ' prompt came up in a blue screen CMD prompt format during the last boot. Then I ran the pre-installed HP Support program and forced it to check and updateР’В firmware and drivers.

This past week I ran Windows Update again and installedР’В all required and important updates but didn't notice any improvement. Functionality has improved but is not completely resolved. My condolences, sounds like we are working thru the same issue. Once the laptop hybernates,Р’В close the lid,Р’В shutdown, or restarted it is back to Step 1 with only a virtual keyboard. The frustrating part is once the physical keyboard begins working it is only for the current loginР’В session. (Settings, Power, Restart)Р”Р„t this point, 75% of time it will work. If physical keyboard fails, restart laptop. Boot the laptop, log in with physical keyboard if it works, or use the virtual keyboard.Р”РЋ1. Re-connect the physical keyboard to the tablet.Р”РЋ0. Typical process to get the keyboard to work:Р”РЋ. The secondary battery (I assume it should be in keyboard dock) is not found. I have also run the UEFI test and the keyboard tests correctly.

I have worked my way thru the 'Driver - Chipset(3)', that is where I have found the old drivers that work for keyboard, mouse, and USB ports.
